Computer/Business Classes

Grades 7-12

Keyboarding
Students take keyboarding in 6th grade.  Students that enter Fishers after the 6th grade will take keyboarding in 7th grade.

Computer Applications
Students will work with the latest version of Office (currently Office 2007).  They will be working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Publisher.  At the end of the course students will complete an overall project that encompasses everything they have been taught.  This will simulate working for a skateboarding company and manging the day to day activities of this company.

Advanced Computer Applications
This course gives students a chance to be creative and learn about the many forms of multimedia.  They will learn how to create their own graphics, edit and take digital photos, edit and take digital videos, and publish all of these to a web page.  Students will also have the opportunity to create podcasts and edit audio files.

Animation
This course is designed to introduce students to animation by using Adobe Flash.  Students will learn how to create their own drawings and designs and then bring them to life.  If a student wants to continue learning more about animation, there is another program they can continue with:  Toon Boom Studio.

Accounting
I
This is a full year course designed to give the student the basics of the accounting cycle.  At the end of the course the student works on a simulation.  In this simulation the student is the bookkeeper for a small business and they take care of the daily transactions for a month and process two payrolls.

Automated Accounting
This course continues with the skills learned in Accounting I and automates them.  Students will use programs like: Quickbooks, Peachtree Accounting and Quicken.
